Although I have shown the genre cycle of horror films in my above explanation, this concept can be applied to music videos too. It can in fact be applied to any media text, I have looked at a variety of youtube music videos and have been applying Steve Neale's theory of the genre cycle, and I think it is a great way to explain the different approaches to making different verions of text of the same genre.
